Apple and rhubarb danish
Tangy rhubarb and fresh crunchy apples are a winter wonder – enjoy them hot
out of the oven with this easy pastry recipe. |

Brussels sprouts with smoked bacon
Give it a go! Many diners will be amazed by the lovely nutty taste of Brussels
sprouts when they are cooked properly – not so much that they lose their
beautiful fresh flavour, but just enough to maintain a little crunch. Bacon is the
perfect companion to these great little bursts of winter nutrition. |

Cauliflower fritters with lime yoghurt
The lime yoghurt is a simple but tasty addition to the cauliflower fritters, which
are always lovely during winter. Just watch how long the cauliflower cooks –
until it is tender but before it is mushy. |

Grated carrot salad with spices and mint
One of the easiest salads you'll ever make, but also one of the tastiest, this
dish involves very little cooking and can be made up in minutes. |

Indian-style fried potato
This is a lovely spicy dish that is beautiful in an array of winter salads, both
warm and cool. Try it with a grated carrot salad and cauliflower fritters with
lime yoghurt. |

Pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese balls)
Pao de queijo are fun and really easy to make, and are traditionally served with
soup so are a great winter dish. This recipe is also gluten-free so is great for
those with Coeliac disease or gluten allergies. |

Poached egg salad with tarragon mayonnaise
These are such simple ingredients but they come together so harmoniously, with a
spicy kick from the leaves, creaminess from the eggs and vibrant herby notes ... yum!

Quinoa winter tabbouleh
White quinoa is the most common variety of this grain, but red quinoa is also
available and has a nuttier flavour. They can be used interchangeably. Quinoa
is a fabulous alternative to traditional grains and is gluten-free. Serve this
salad alongside poached chicken for a light winter lunch. |

Rhubarb cake
This easy, flavoursome cake makes the most of one of the winter crops
definitely worth waiting for – lovely red rhubarb. The resulting cake is moist,
dense and absolutely delicious. |

Roasted winter vegetables with olive sauce
Root vegetables are fabulous during winter. This tasty recipe makes use of winter
staples parsnips, carrots, potatoes and turnips, along with the olives you may have
preserved during autumn! Serve a big dish of this alongside roast meat for dinner,
or a quiche for a light winter lunch. The exact quantities of vegetables are up to you. |

no matter how green they are (the soups, not the kids!) And this one is great fun
