Chirnside Park is committed to reducing its water, energy and waste usage.
Water savings have been achieved with the introduction of 1/2 flush toilets, flow restrictors fitted to all common area water appliances, improved cleaning practices and through planting native plants in external areas thus eliminating external watering requirements.
Electricity savings have been achieved through adjusting the centres mechanical plant which essentially has been the refining the times the plant starts up and shuts down.
Savings in waste to landfill have been achieved through introducing effective recycling streams, line marking the relevant waste streams from the external doors of the centre to the waste recycling points in the loading dock, the introduction of the worm farm to process organic waste and retailer workshops broadening the communication to retailers about the benefits of effective recycling.
