Have Your Burrata And Eat It Too With These Euro-Inspired Recipes

The Blessed Burrata

Like a grilled cheese sandwich but way, way better. Transport yourself to the beautiful European countryside with a traditional Italian soft cheese and crunchy bread dish. The trick to this recipe is sourcing a good quality ball of burrata — an insanely popular soft cheese that has the texture of mozzarella covered cottage cheese. A quality deli is the best place to start, but most supermarkets stock burrata as well.

Once you’ve secured the cheese, pair it with a toasted crusty sourdough fresh from Baker’s Delight, a generous helping of extra virgin olive oil, sliced heirloom tomatoes from a fruit and veg store and a sprinkling of flaky sea salt. A simple, quick and tasty appetiser. Deliziosa!

The Perfect Pasta

Minimise on cleanup while maxing out on moreish flavours with a Euro holiday inspired one-pot pasta. Although you could technically make most kinds of pasta recipes using only one pot, our favourite is a delicious spicy linguine that’s impossibly quick to make.

Boil your fresh pasta, sourced from a local supermarket or deli, in a pot of boiling water. Once cooked and set aside, fry off fresh garlic, tomato paste and chilli paste in hot olive oil for 2-5 minutes, then add some pasta water and the pasta back in. Whisk egg yolks, parmesan, salt and pepper in a bowl, and add to the pasta mixture for an incredibly creamy, easy, one pot pasta.

Shakshuka Baked Eggs

Test out one of the continent’s most warming and comforting dishes from the comfort of your home — no skill necessary. Once you see how easy it is to make and scrumptious to eat, shakshuka is sure to be your new favourite breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Start with frying up sliced red capsicum and onion in extra virgin olive oil. Once sweating, pour in some good quality canned crushed tomatoes and warm it up in a skillet with a variety of spices. Cumin, paprika, salt, pepper and red chilli flakes are always a great start. Make wells in the tomato mixture and crack eggs into them, letting them cook to your liking under a grill or on the stove. Serve on a beautiful traditional European serving dish from David Jones, and top with crumbled ghosts cheese and parsley for the perfect Mediterranean sharing dish.

For extra Euro vibes, turn up the heater, don your favourite summer outfit and pop on an Italian party playlist before tucking in.
